Part of my plan as an empty nester to be a digital nomad/potential ex-pat included remaining single and flying solo on my adventures. Um yeah, about that...
A fun casual "free dinner for fun" with Wayne (aka Batman), managed to evolve into something neither of us expected. He helped me study and supported me through my PMP test (he's also a certified Project Management Professional), and I figured we'd probably hang out a bit and nothing more. As a Navy officer heading to retirement, and about to go on his last deployment, he also wasn't looking for a serious relationship. Fast forward a year of hanging out and "nope, we're not falling for each other" and... you've all seen this film before.
Wayne left for deployment at the end of June, and I was able to join him for his second port in Oslo, Norway. It worked out perfectly so I could fly over right after moving Abby into college. We had a wonderful week exploring Oslo and ferry hopped to the surrounding islands. The Edward Munch (pronounced Edvard Munk) museum and the opera house were among our favorites. We saw copious amounts of Viking ships and learned all about conquering the ocean. We also enjoyed a ridiculous 7-course meal + wine pairing where he proposed we move in together when we're both back in Washington. I said "yes!" We'll both be moving back into my Bellingham home when it becomes available April 1st. Enjoy some photos from our time in Norway!
